Sports Premium and Pupil Premium funding
Pupil Premium Grant
The Government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant in April 2011. This grant, which is in addition to main school funding, is seen by the government as the best way to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers.
The Pupil Premium is allocated directly to schools and schools must decide how the Pupil Premium is best spent. We use the following underlying principles
We have high expectations of all learners and work hard to identify and remove barriers to learning for all pupils.
We focus our funding on improving outcomes in English and mathematics as well as through our enquiry based wider curriculum
We have a whole school ethos of ‘aspire, believe, achieve’ This encourages staff and children to aim high in all that they do.
We use educational research and evidence to help us to decide which strategies are likely to be most effective in overcoming barriers to learning.
We promote the power of positive mindsets in our pupils to help inspire them to have determination and self belief, so they can meet their full potential.
We believe in the life changing power of education. Our children deserve the best quality teachingand learning in order to reach their potential.
We adopt a forensic approach when considering whether the correct provision is in place for children who are eligible for the pupil premium.
We focus on providing high quality training and support to all staff so they are able to meet the needs of all pupils
We deploy staff effectively to ensure the best possible support for pupils’ learning.
We have systems in place which carefully monitor, manage and support good behaviourand attendance for all our pupils.
We recognise the importance of the partnership between home and school. We work hard to engage parents and carers in their child’s learning
We believe in using the funding to broaden horizons for all our children, we recognise the value of additional educational experiences and the role of learning beyond the classroom.

Sports Premium funding
What are the objectives of the premium?
The Primary PE and Sport Premium is ring-fenced and must only be spent on physical education and sport provision in schools.
The funding therefore aims to achieve a self-sustaining improvement in all areas of PE, from the quality of physical education to introducing health focused physical activities and after school sports.
Engage all pupils in regular physical activity and healthy active lifestyles
Increase confidence, knowledge and skills of PE and sport teaching staff
Broaden the range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
Encourage the participation of pupils in competitive sports
