Compass Point Primary School

Religious Education

Intent

At Compass Point Primary School, Religious Education is a vital part of our commitment to nurturing respectful, reflective, and open-minded learners. We are proud to serve a vibrant and multicultural community at Compass Point. Therefore, the RE curriculum supports children to develop mutual respect, empathy, and a deep understanding of both religious and non-religious worldviews.

Through the religious education curriculum, we prepare our pupils for life in modern Britain by encouraging them to explore life’s big questions, consider how beliefs shape identity and behaviour, and reflect on their own values and place in the world.

At Compass Point, we utilise the Kapow Primary Religion and Worldviews curriculum, delivering discrete lessons that are enriched through links with PSHE and our wider school values. We aim to nurture open-minded, reflective thinkers by exploring diverse religious and non-religious worldviews. Through thought-provoking questions and a safe, inclusive environment, pupils develop empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of faith, identity, and morality. The curriculum builds knowledge of major world religions—including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism—while encouraging personal reflection and challenging prejudice. As children progress, they explore themes such as belonging, celebration, and moral choices, preparing them to engage confidently and respectfully with the diverse world around them.
